Best Made Upholstery

After a first career as a photographer, I wanted to do something more direct with my hands - an opportunity which came when we moved from London to Stroud, Gloucestershire, with its many different craft workshops. I dabbled in pottery, natural dyeing and all manner of handwork until I discovered a love of upholstery while working alongside the amazing, and very exacting, Katerina Gibb, aka The Upholsteress.

I loved the process from the start. It tapped into my love of antiques, of fixing stuff, and of fabric. I had finally found a positive in being a perfectionist. I enjoy all forms of re-upholstery from machine work to traditional stitch and stuff, and while I’m very meticulous in my work I understand it’s not about re-making an object anew. I often fall for the texture of old fabric, loving the fade and the fray.

If you would like me to quote on a piece of furniture, please begin by sending me a picture of the item and we can discuss options from there.
